Women’s Summit Tackles Issues That Impact Success

LARGO, Md.—Third Annual Real Women of Prince George’s Community College Women’s Summit tackles issues that impact success. The day-long seminar features interactive sessions about career choice, leadership, marriage, stress, personal image, beauty and self-esteem. Prince George’s Community College hosts the summit, April 26, 8 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. in Largo Student Center, Rennie Forum.  

Summit attendees confront a variety of topics that female students encounter on their journey to personal, academic and professional fulfillment.  Workshops include —   

  • Know Your Rights as a Woman                      
  • Questions to Consider Before Ever Considering Marriage                                         
  • Career Choice and Job Services                                                                       
  • Dealing with Math Anxiety     
  • You Are What You Wear and How You Speak 
  • Handling the Drama in Your Life                                           
  • Challenges of Women Leaders: Stories from an Executive Coach                             
  • Beauty for the Everyday Woman                                
  • Dealing with Math Anxiety                                                                             

Prince George’s Community College discussion leaders include Charlene M. Dukes, president of Prince George’s Community College; Tyjaun A. Lee, vice president for Student Services; Laura Harver, advisor and program manager Women of Wisdom; Brian Hamlin, program manager Diverse Male Student Initiatives; and 10 additional PGCC faculty and administrators. Guest speakers are Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-Md.) and Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks.
