After interviewing several students and hearing their compelling practice speeches, the Commencement team in charge of selecting the ceremony’s student speaker landed on the perfect choice. This year’s speaker representing the graduating students of Prince George’s Community College is Mr. Darrell Williams.
Driven. Focused. Never settling…"I aim to be successful!"
Darrell Williams is an ambitious student with an entrepreneurial mindset. He is the first in his family to graduate from college and is setting an amazing example for both of his younger siblings. His definition of success is “living happily doing what you love to do.” Wise words from a young man who has always remained active during his academic years through club participation, volunteer work, and part-time employment and is constantly looking for the next opportunity that will get him closer to his career and success.
Darrell graduated from Suitland High School and was enrolled in the Performing Arts program with a focus in Band as a percussionist. He was active in high school and enjoyed participating in the Student Government Association, Mock Trials Team, Honors Classes, the modeling team, and more. After graduating from high school, Darrell went off to Towson University to pursue his freshman year in college. He soon transitioned to Prince George’s Community College in the fall of 2012 where he took full advantage of the college’s student programs. Darrell was recently awarded Outstanding Club Executive Officer of the Year for his role as President of the Envision Modeling team at Prince George’s Community College. He was also awarded Portfolio of the Year from the Diverse Male Student Initiatives Program. Keeping his career ambitions close to the vest, Darrell has interned for Haus of Falenciago and Dennis Basso, celebrity fashion designers, and has been offered an extended internship with Dennis Basso over the summer in New York.
Darrell Williams is graduating with an A.S. in Business Administration and will continue his pursuit of higher education at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he has received a scholarship.
